Frequently Asked Questions

What Is Micro-shading?

Micro-Shading is a combination of manual microblading technique and a shading technique. This method is performed using a tattoo gun. It is also considered to be a semi-permanent procedure. This combination allows you to create very natural full 3D eyebrows.

NOTE: Best candidates are those with little or no eyebrows. This procedure also recommended for those with very oily skin and large pores.

What Is Microblading?

Microblading is a new and updated semi-permanent technique where pigment applies only to a top layer of the skin epidermis. It is performed manually, using a microblading pen to create an illusion of fuller thicker eyebrows. This technique allows you to create a very natural light finish or a beautifully bold brow.

NOTE: This procedure is not recommended for very oily skin with large pores. The strokes most likely fade out or become very blurry after the complete healing. Microshading will be a better option for you.

Can Professional MicroBlading Be Done Over My Old EyeBrow Tattoo?

Over the years, we’ve had to attend to numerous clients with already existing eyebrow tattoo or PMU, who walk up to us, curious to know the possibilities of performing microblading over their existing tattoo. The fact remains that we may not be able to perform microblading over an old tattoo, but that doesn’t mean you should lose all hope.

Here are some things you should know if you fall into this category of people.

  1. If You Want Any Work Done Over Your Permanent Makeup, Then You Should First Send Clear Pictures to Us.

As they say, pictures speak more than a thousand words. When your photos get to us, an experienced Artist will take a close look at them to determine the possibility of working with us. We advise that you take three photos; one from different sides, and one straight one, so that we will be able to see everything we need before making a decision. For a start, ensure each photo is:

  • Filter-free
  • Makeup free
  • Taken with sufficient natural lighting.
  1. We Are Well Equipped To Work on Covering Up Old Eyebrow Tattoos if The Old Work is Light With Ink That is Deposited Lightly.

From your photos, our experts would be able to determine the thickness of each eyebrow tattoo. If it is too dark, then it’ll be almost impossible for the hair strokes to show up. Look at it this way: if after drawing an eyebrow by yourself on paper and you decide to get it filled using a pen, then still go ahead to use the same pen to draw hair strokes over it, it would be near impossible seeing the exact lines of your hair strokes. This illustration is the same for how microblading works on an old tattoo. If by chance the ink has been marked more deeply than it should or pigment density becomes too much, it’ll become challenging for our artists to help you create the perfect eyebrows. In most cases, we are limited to microblade on an existing tattoo, and that’s because the existing work will prove either too deep, excessively dark, dense or all combined.

  1. We Can Make Use of Combo Techniques or Shading for Covering Existing Eyebrow Tattoo.

Please note that we’ll not be able to perform a complete microblading procedure over an existing PMU covering of a previous work. To get it well, we’ll make use of a unique combination of shading techniques. Confused about what shading is? Well, shading occurs when an artist uses a particular method to fill up the brow, therefore giving it a powdered look. On the other hand, Combo brows involve the combination of microblading with shading thereby creating a unique look with some hair stroke. This is done to give an overall fuller look. During cover up sessions, shading provides the artist with the opportunity to blend the new work with the former one. With your three clear photos, our artists should be able to make recommendations for what will fit your situation best.

  1. In Cases Where We Are Unable to Perform Tattoo Coverups, We Will Recommend Tattoo Removal as a Good Option.

Our ability to handle in-house removal is quite limited. However, if you want to get your removal done somewhere else, be assured that a “laser removal” or “Saline removal” is the best option for you. You can also contact your practitioner for a recommendation as they are entirely in a good position to make recommendations that fit well with your brows. Whatever suits your condition better would be made known by them.

Conclusion

There you have it, the different options that are reliable. We hope that you understand the various options available to you if you have a permanent makeup or eyebrow tattoo already. Please feel free to contact us if you’re still confused about any aspect of the whole process and we promise to provide you with the best answer possible.
Remember to send over three clear pictures if you’ve had a previous PMU.

What You Should Expect?

With our level of expertise, you can expect minimal discomfort from the whole procedure. Regularly, we will use a typical anesthetic to numb the area, so that you’ll remain comfortable throughout the process. We do not take your time, but we ensure to bring a service that’s worth your time to you.

During the recovery process, a lot of people experience a loss of some pigment, which is very normal. However, we’ve taken a preventive step by having the touch up in place. The process takes up to 6 weeks after the first touch up, but once we’re done, the result lasts between 12 to 18 months, depending on several factors which we will make known to you when you contact us. There’s more to learn about this service and how we handle it.

Will it hurt?

We understand that the idea of getting a tattoo can be nerve-wracking, which is why we always make sure our clients are as comfortable as possible. Most people experience very little to no pain during the microblading procedure. To make sure you’re as comfortable as possible, we use numbing cream both before and during the procedure. This helps keep any discomfort to a minimum.

So how long does it really last?

Typically, microblading lasts for about 1 to 3 years before the color and shape start to fade. However, it’s important to note that the length of time can vary from person to person. Factors like sun exposure, skincare products, skin type, and even changes in the weather can all affect how long the results will last. To keep your brows looking their best, we recommend getting touch-ups once a year. For lips and eyes, every two years is usually enough to maintain the color and shape.
